7-time Method A person winner Lewis Hamilton obtained his knighthood for providers to motorsport on Wednesday, days following he misplaced out on what would have been a history eighth title following a tense last lap at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Hamilton retains the history for most race wins with 103 while he is tied with German wonderful Michael Schumacher on 7 drivers’ championships.
The 36-year-aged Briton, the sport’s only Black driver, was created a Knight Bachelor by Britain’s Prince Charles in the course of an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle in England.
Hamilton is the fourth F1 driver to be knighted following the late Australian Jack Brabham, Stirling Moss and triple winner Jackie Stewart, and the only a person to have obtained the award while even now racing.
Other active sportsmen who have obtained a knighthood are cycling’s Tour de France winner Bradley Wiggins, Olympic five,000 and 10,000 meters gold medallist Mo Farah, twice Wimbledon winner Andy Murray and England cricketer Alastair Cook.
Hamilton misplaced out on the 2021 title to Crimson Bull driver Max Verstappen on Sunday. The two were being equivalent on factors in advance of the ultimate race in Abu Dhabi, wherever the Dutchman overtook Hamilton on the ultimate lap to raise his maiden title.
